COVER REVEAL: The Sheriff’s Daughter

Book cover of “The Sheriff’s Daughter” by C. J. Cauldin, featuring a close-up of a blue-eyed young woman with a cracked-glass texture and gritty noir styling.

Every story has an ignition point — a moment where the match hits the dry earth and something inevitable begins to burn.

For the world of Project Heartless, that spark begins here, in a dusty rural corner of Texas, far from the surveillance towers and neon violence of the cities.

Today I’m revealing the new cover for The Sheriff’s Daughter, a short prelude to the main series. It isn’t a western — not even close. This is a black-ops thriller wearing the skin of a quiet town. A place where people think they know everyone… until a girl with cold precision and unfamiliar scars walks into their lives.

So Who Is The Sheriff’s Daughter?

She’s a ghost in plain sight. A young woman trained by people who don’t officially exist, thrust into civilian life under a false identity she never chose.

From the outside, she’s just another small-town daughter trying to rebuild her life.
On the inside, she’s an unfinished weapon — and the past is already calling her back.

Her first mission wasn’t assigned to her.
She chose it.
And the choice sets the entire series into motion.

🌑 What You Need to Know (Without Spoilers)

  • his novella unfolds during Caroline’s forced exile — a New York ghost hidden in a Texas landscape.
  • It reveals the first spark of rebellion that makes her who she becomes.
  • It leads directly into Book One of the series — coming soon.
  • No typical western tropes. Well… maybe one or two. But at its core, this is black-ops, psychological tension, and rural shadows.

It’s the first time she’s able to breathe freely. It’s also the first time someone tries to take that freedom away.

What’s Next?

The full novel — Book One of the Project Heartless series — is on its way. It expands everything hinted at here: the betrayal, the conditioning, the mission that was never meant to be hers… and the man who wasn’t supposed to matter.
